April is friendly and isn't afraid of people. Her foster mom said, "She and her babies were very sociable, and well-behaved and well-adjusted." April likes attention, and was a good mom."
April likes to play with toys that can be tossed in the air, such as catnip toys or anything else that's lightweight. She's fun to watch when she gets playful, especially when she jumps up to catch a toy she flings into the air, just like kittens do. She purrs when I pet her. She looks at me when I talk to her, and will generally follow me around. She likes it when I hold her close, as long as it isn't for too long, and doesn't mind being carried. When I say she isn't afraid of people, she doesn't run and hide under the couch when company comes, like other foster kitties did. Visitors are able to see her and pet her without her streaking out of the room.
But she does not like the other cats in my house at all. Maybe it's just too stressful for her. It's possible that with more time they'd adjust. Other than the fact that I believe cats are social creatures and are typically happier with another cat in the home for companionship, I was ready to recommend that she be adopted by a family who doesn't have any other pets. But now she seems to be OK with my male cat, and seems interested in a male stray who comes up to her bedroom window to visit occasionally. She defers to my male, and is not afraid of the stray. So she might adjust just fine, if adopted into a home where there's one male cat.
In any case, her 7 babies were adopted within 8 days, as soon as they were old enough. My hope is that April and our other young mom cats will not be overlooked because they don't look like kittens anymore, because the mom cats are very sweet and deserve homes too. In some cases, they aren't much older than their babies.

All our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. This gives us the ability to really get to know the animals we have available and find them families that are a good fit for them based on their personalities. We do not have a shelter to visit the animals.
