If you're looking for a calm, affectionate friend, look no further than Ms. Broccoli. This girl would love to relax on a soft spot in your home, or maybe spend some time in the evening lounging on the cool grass while you tend to your yard. It doesn't matter to her, as long as you're nearby.
She can be silly -- she will belly crawl to you and do lots of adorable downward dogs and stretches. She can also be calm and dainty. She has ladylike manners and can even carry her bowl in her mouth without spilling anything! She is quite timid around new people, but will still happily accept a nice scratch under the chin. Lots of action rattles her nerves a bit, too, so she'd prefer to stay away from busy farmer's markets and the like.
Broccoli previously lived with children and was wonderful with them, though she'd like to be the only dog in your home. She doesn't seem to be fond of cats, either. She seems crate trained and house trained and knows the sit command. She will put her nose on the door when she needs to go outside. When she sees her leash, she knows it's walk time and puts her paws on the door. Although she still slightly pulls on her leash, she is a great walking partner.
Beautiful Broccoli will make an excellent companion to a person or family who can show her the love she deserves. She really enjoys neck and belly rubs! We promise you'll get gobs of love in return. She loves her people with a passion, and will brighten your every day with her never-ending affection. Come meet this lady today and see for yourself.
It should be noted that Broccoli has tested positive for heartworms. It's a treatable condition, and the cost is covered by APA! donors! You can read about heartworm treatment here:http://www.austinpetsalive.org/heartworms/
All APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And remember, when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the life of the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
