Sweet, well-mannered gal looking for loving family, loads of attention and permanent home!
Our Dottie girl was rescued from a shelter after her family surrendered her there. She was terrified at the shelter, and while we went there to save another (also terrified) dog, we met Dottie and just couldn't send this sweet girl (who was shaking like a leaf!) back to her pen to await an uncertain fate. (We of course took them both!)
It was clear from the start that Dottie has lived inside a home and was used to a crate. She is very well mannered, walks wonderfully on a leash, and has a very mild temperament about her. She gets a little nervous in new environments/situations but but just needs encouragement and patience to help boost her confidence.
Dottie seemed very uncomfortable with other dogs when she first came to us. It is likely that she did not have a lot of experience with them. She has made a few doggie friends in her foster home but we also think she might prefer to be an only dog We have not tested her with cats. She has been introduced to several children at adoption events and did well with them. We will not place her in a home with young children, however, because she is a little nervous and we don't have enough information about her behavior with them in a living situation.
This girl is truly an amazing dog and a favorite by our volunteers. Our former "shaking like a leaf" shelter girl is now a happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and playful gal and she is looking for that wonderful family to share her life with!
Should be an only dog or perhaps placed with a younger, sociable male dog. Needs home without children under the age of 6
