Rat Terrier Rescue Canada is a non-profit organization with a network of fosterhomes throughout Canada. Interested being a fosterparent with us? Rat Terrier Rescue Canada provides medication and veterinary care for your fosterdog, and we are pleased to announce we now have a fosterparent mentor, Marilyn Trembley, available to help with any training or behaviour advice needed with your foster. Marilyn Trembley runs a dog training center, and is very experenced with terriers. We are glad to have her aboard!
Is there any chance you may be available sometimes to foster a Rat Terrier in need? Most Dogs that we bring in are happy adults and are in foster care for only a short time, about 2 months. Some are more needy cases requiring time for recovery from their past situations. You would choose the type of dog in need that you would like to foster, male or female, size, age, a happy go lucky adult, a senior in need of some love and lap time, or even a puppy! We are asked to help abuse survivors and puppymill cases as well, who may need extra care and time. The type of Rat terrier you foster is up to you.
In addition to fosterhomes, we can use help in many aspects of our adoption process, such as going to shelters to pull a Rat Terrier in need, helping our Application team with making phone calls to vets offices, personal referrences and interviewing applicants, inspecting prospective adopter's homes to be sure the home is suited for a Rat Terrier, or driving an hour or two to help with Rat Terrier transports for SOS Ratties going to fostercare.
Please let us know if you might be able to volunteer, even if you
only have time to offer to foster a Rat Terrier once, it's still one life saved!
