Foxy Lady was found in the Casselberry area by a police officer. She can be choosy about her dog companions, but she really seems to love her people. She would do best in a home as the only dog. We're hoping to find her a great furever home where she will never end up in a shelter again!
Foster Update, 3/15/15:Foxy Lady is an amazing dog it say the least. She is extremely afraid of the vacuum cleaner and any similar loud noises. We took her to Downtown Sanford last night and Foxy was very well behaved, she loves to greet everyone that walks by with kisses and of course sat by us and begged for food when we ate but was not overbearing or rude about it. When we told her to lie down she did and gave us puppy dog eyes until we ordered her some chicken. She walks well on a leash if you tell her to "Leave It". She is obedient, loves to please, very food motivated, and knows her basic commands. Foxy is a fence jumper so needs to be watched when outside in a fenced in yard. She loves to go for walks! She has an obsession with Frisbees and Tennis Balls, and loves to play fetch. (and Bones, you won’t see her until the bone has vanished.) She will chase the ball for hours but will make your work for it to get the ball back until you ignore her than she’ll drop it for you. Foxy Lady is such a happy, sweet girl and needs a great loving owner that will make sure she knows who’s boss. She likes kids and does well when they approach her but she is very strong and would knock them right over when she plays so would need to go to a home with older children. Foxy is 50lbs of pure muscle and thinks she is a little yorkie so be warned she LOVES to cuddle and will try and get as close as she can when laying down or watching TV. Foxy is an awesome dog and if we could we would adopt her in a heartbeat! Don’t miss out on this amazing girl!
Volunteer Update, 3/14: Foxy Lady is a fantastic dog! She is so friendly and loves to get attention from everyone. She LOVES to play frisbee!!! She is very playful and loves toys. She is a strong girl and will need a strong leader. She still has some fun puppy qualities in her, but is still well behaved. We love having her at our Oviedo Mall Adoption Center. She loves the kids! What a great dog!
Staff Update, 12/13: Foxy Lady sometimes gets to hang out in the office! She loves to greet visitors. She's been really good about not chewing on the furniture, and she doesn't take things off the desk. I moved the trash can outside, because she does like to take out the papers. But I think it's more of a game with her--I see that tail wagging! I don't think a home with small children would be a good idea, because she could definitely knock a toddler over, as she doesn't seem to realize that she's built like a tank. She is very friendly and loves to play, but again, she doesn't seem to realize how big and strong she is, so she can get a bit rough. She LOVES to play fetch, although trying to get the ball back from her to throw it again can be a challenge! One thing she does need to work on is leash manners: that the human takes the dog for a walk, not the other way around!
The Terrier is a good-natured, amusing, extremely loyal and affectionate family pet, which is good with children and adults. Almost always obedient, it is always eager to please its master. It is an extremely courageous and intelligent guard dog that is very full of vitality. They are highly protective of their owners and the owner's property. It is usually very friendly, but has an uncanny ability to know when it needs to protect and when everything is okay. Excellent with children in the family, they have a high pain tolerance and will happily put up with rough child play. As with any breed, they should not be left alone with unfamiliar children. Used as all around working farm dogs, they were referred to as "the poor mans horse". They are strong and generally weigh between 40 and 70 lbs. They have a life expectancy of about 12 - 14 years.
