Gus shows nothing but love and devotion to the people he trusts. You can't help but melt when he looks at you with the sweetest brown eyes. He loves to be right next to you, but is not pushy or demanding with his affection. He's completely housetrained, leash trained, and knows which toys are his. His coat is wiry, but requires little maintenance and people with allergies have not had any reaction to him.
Gus is energetic and loves to play, but will settle right down to cuddle or take a nap. He does not have much experience with other animals, but after introductions he has been very good with other dogs. He would love to have a playmate and a big yard to run around in. Bigger dogs would be best as he can play rough. He's a quiet guy who only barks if someone rings your doorbell. He only needs an average amount of exercise - he's happy to go on a couple of walks each day, then sleep the rest of the time. And he does not like to be crated, but he is well behaved in his foster home.
We don't know what happened in Gus' past, but he does have insecurities and fear issues that are being addressed and need to continue to be managed. He needs to meet people a few times before he trusts them. For this reason, he would do best in an adults only home with an experienced, patient owner. Please consider fostering or adopting this scruffy guy.
If you'd like to meet Gus, please fill out an adoption application on him & be sure to mention his name.
