Lexx is looking for his Special Someone to teach him how to play. He spent most of his life chained outside, but now he's ready to experience a whole new world beyond the radius of that chain.
Lexx is not a high energy dog, so he's pretty flexible on what his home needs to look like, as long as he's free to sniff around, whether in a yard or on fun outings. More than anything, Lexx yearns for a family who will adore him as much as he does them. Since he probably didn't have a lot of human interaction in his previous home, he's slightly shy when meeting new people, but he seems very willing to change that.
Being around a very social doggie friend, preferably a female, will work wonders in helping Lexx gain confidence. He probably shouldn't be in a house with cats, and very small children might be intimidated by his bulk, but he's a gentle boy and older kids who know how to play with him would be fine. A meet and greet is always a good idea for determining how he'll fit into his new family.
Lexx is a smarty pants with a wicked sense of humor. During his sleepover with an APA volunteer, Lexx let her know he wanted to go outside by bringing her one of every shoe in the house. He didn't chew on any of the shoes, but he definitely got his point across.
Lexx is a diamond in the rough who just needs a loving family to help him shine. Shine on, dear boy.
All APA adoptions come with free behavior assistance through APA's behavior team. And remember... when you adopt a dog from APA, you are saving not one, but two lives - the dog you're bringing into your home, and the next dog APA can save in the adopted dog's place.
