Misty came to us from Ocean City, where she was given up to a kennel in hopes she would get adopter. Luckily, her current foster mom learned of her situation and decided to bring her to AFH so she would have a better chance of finding a home.
Misty is a beautiful pure-bred Cocker Spaniel. Her color is tan, and she currently has a "summer cut". Although she was given up with a beagle, it appears that Misty would do best in a home with no dogs or cats. Her current foster has cats, and Misty delights in chasing them. Luckily, the foster's cats are used to dogs, but the cats would prefer Misty find a forever home somewhere else.
Misty is a healthy girl. She loves to run around the backyard, rolling in the grass and of course barking at passer-bys. She is an affectionate girl and will hop up on the sofa to be close to her humans. She also sleeps on the end of her foster mom’s bed and often will hop down to sleep on the floor beside the bed.
Misty is doing very well with in her new home. Although it took some time, she now trusts her foster to dry her paws, comb out tangles on her ears, and generally have her come when called. Misty is house-broken, crate trained (although she prefers not to be crated) and a gentle walker on lead. She has a deep bark, but a treat will distract her. She also will sit upon command.
Although she does well with people, she is not recommended for small children, as Cocker Spaniels don’t tend to be tolerant of little ones. So come by and see her at adoption, or email and we can make arrangements, if the show time is not possible.
