If you are a husky lover and want to save a "special dog" consider Mona. She is truly very, very special.
The one photo is of Mona as a puppy. It was taken less than a week before we agreed to take her in two and a half years ago. She was so sick. She had daily seizures and was completely incontinent. It was quite an ordeal, getting her well. It involved daily care for a dog that leaked urine like a badly leaking faucet. Raising thousands of dollars for her medical treatments and surgeries and driving her to and from countless doctor visits.
The other photo is of Mona now. Her seizures are completely controlled and bladder surgery took care of her leaking. She is now housebroken. For a dog who had a grim future it's truly amazing how far she's come.
Now all we have to worry about with Mona is finding her the best possible family that can love her as she is...not quite perfect but so incredibly darling. A tenacious, independent, confident, mischievous, joyful and sensitive husky, that's our Mona.
Many of you have said she is where she belongs and that we should keep her. But in all reality there are more dogs waiting to be rescued and frankly she deserves more than we can give her.
Help us to find the best family ever for our precious Alaskan husky friend. Mona is a sweet and sensitive Alaskan husky. It's been a long journey for Mona and AEAR as we raised Mona and fixed her serious health issues. She is now ready for her forever home.
Mona loves to play in water and would love a baby pool in her yard. She loves walks and is very affectionate. She's a good eater and loves the snow, her crate, and her nylabones. She is very smart and can be sensitive too.
Mona plays well with other dogs and gets along with cats. She lives with a family with a six-year-old child. But she would be best in a family with kids over ten only because she can get a bit protective around her cage when she steals something and brings it into the cage with her. Yes, Mona can be naughty...but not too naughty":)
Mona needs a home where there is a secure privacy fenced yard since she enjoys spending time outside. She also needs a family that is not gone from the home for longer than six hours at a time on most days.
A home visit will be required to adopt Mona so please only adoption applications within an hour of Libertyville, IL.

All our animals available for adoption are living in foster homes. This gives us the ability to really get to know the animals we have available and find them families that are a good fit for them based on their personalities. We do not have a shelter to visit the animals.
