Pita and several other cats were rescued just before the harsh winter of 2013/2014 by one of our wonderful volunteers. Pita had spent her life outdoors and with minimal human contact so we sent her to a loving foster home where she learned that people are not so bad. Her foster home had a rabbit and another cat and did great. She recently returned to Heartland and is adjusting to life in the shelter. She gets along with all the other cats and is starting to trust humans. She loves to be petted. Pita is still on the reserved side, so she would do best in a home without young children.
