Round Lake Beach, IL

Porkchop was rescued from a hoarding case in December of 2013 and is STILL waiting for his forever home. He was rescued from an owner that had over 30 small dogs - many of them being severely ill, malnourished and under socialized -in a small studio apartment. Porkchop has is about 5-6 years old and had not had nearly any human interaction before he was rescued by us.

When he first arrived in our care, he trembled in the presence of humans and hid in a corner. We were unable to pick him up or handle him without experienced help. But, with the constant work and support from several foster homes, Porkchop has been making tremendous progress! He gets along GREAT with other dogs, and would probably do well in a home with other dogs and/or cats to make him feel more secure. His foster mom can now successfully leash him and take him or a walk, pick him up and sit with him on the couch, and pet him. He is trained to go potty on puppy training potty pads indoors, and will also go outside (we let him out in a fenced in backyard). He is still very shy and will most likely be that way for the rest of his life, but with a loving owner that he can trust, he will slowly begin to come out of his shell. Watching him grow and experience new things is extremely rewarding. Please consider adding this little man to your home; he is one of our favorites!

For updates on his progress, visit "The Adventures of Porkchop" on Facebook!
