You only need to spend a little time with good ol Spikey and your happiness level will spike (pun intended) because this happy-go-lucky pooch is a great mood picker-upper! If you are scouring the interwebs for a senior dog who has been in a shelter for far too long - Spike is at the very top of our list. This 50-pound handsome boy is 12 years young as of 2017, and he has been with TBL since early 2012. Though he has been in foster a few times throughout the years, not once has Spike ever known the comfort of a forever home! His previous foster parents have nothing but great things to say about him. Spike is completely house trained, walks excellently on a leash, enjoys playing fetch, follows you around the house with a wagging tail, and most of all, loves to snuggle with people. Spike is an active guy who would be a great companion for those that like to run, hike, bike, or even just walk. He can join you on a run for miles, and he enjoys a nice swim post-run on hot days. You would never be able to guess that Spike is a senior after you’ve seen him climb the steepest parts of Cowles Mountain with volunteers. Believe us when we say his age is not a reflection of his boundless love and vitality. Spike is also great in public and around strange people. This was evident in his trips to local restaurants and coffee shops, where he gladly accepted compliments and a favorable pat on the head from everyone he met. Spike is very intelligent and food motivated, which are great attributes for training. Even though he has a playful energy, Spike can also sit quietly chewing on a bully stick for hours or just enjoy having his belly rubbed. We would love to see this sweet, affectionate, and loving guy go to a wonderful forever home that he so deserves!
