Tiny is a 6 pound, 6-year-old Chihuahua. He does great when meeting dogs, politely sniffing. He has been around both large and small dogs without a problem. He is learning quickly to walk nicely on a leash, without pulling or veering.
Tiny was very fearful after being picked up as a stray, but has come a long way and will no doubt continue to improve. He is still careful around new people and busy situations, but he quickly learned to trust his foster mom and he now loves to be held, cuddled, and have his belly rubbed.
Tiny really likes to go for walks and is reasonably active at home, but he certainly enjoys his naps on your lap or in a cozy dog bed. He likes playing gently with small plush dog toys. He shares his foster home with a female 8 year old Miniature Pinscher. They really connected and play very well together, gently rolling all over the living room and trading toys, even though the Min Pin has never wanted to play with any other dogs or toys.
Tiny does great in his foster house yard when left alone with the Min Pin. He likes to sit in the sunshine and watch what is going on around him. He behaves well in a car, but he does have a tendency to get car sick; hopefully this will pass as he has more passenger experience.
Tiny was not house trained when he first went to his foster home, but he is an amazingly quick learner and is now completely house trained. He has learned to push open a screen door to let himself out in the yard to do his business; he should have no problem learning a doggy door.
Tiny's foster mom says: "Tiny is such a cuddle bug. He loves to be held and petted. He is sweet, cute and just wants to be loved. He is mellow, yet has a fun streak in him. He is easy going, adaptable and just an all around great companion!!"
Tiny came to us from Salinas Animal Services after coming in as a stray.
