Trip was playing possum on the side of the road and it worked, because a local animal rescuer stopped to check on him. He wasn’t injured, but was very eager to have human companionship and jumped right in her car to take a ride to the shelter where a DARS foster retrieved him and took him into foster care.
Trip knows simple commands - sit, down, kennel, and shake. He is very intuitive and is the most compassionate dog his foster parents have ever seen. When another dog in the home isn’t feeling well or leaves the house for a trip to the vet, Trip is concerned and usually lays by the crate until his friend starts to feel better or returns home from the vet visit. He loves his humans just as much and tries to console them when they’ve had a rough day or if they are just tired. Trip is one of the sweetest, most loving dogs we’ve ever seen. He is also a great playmate. Trip will play well with a 155 pound English Mastiff and Rat Terrier that only weigh 15 -20 pounds, always careful not to step on anyone…….he’s very agile. Trip has been in our foster care for about 2 years.
Trip has been neutered, he's on heartworm preventative, is housetrained, up to date with shots, good with kids, and good with all size dogs. He isn’t good with cats, birds flying over the backyard, or squirrels.

I adopted my baby from DARS and it went very smoothly. I really like the fact that they foster them in their homes so they know them very well. I appreciate the time and care they take in selecting the best match for the animals and they couldn't have been nicer!
