This little gent is Winston. Winston was found abandoned in a park in MD with nothing more than a blanket and a horrible case of Mange. The worst our vet has ever seen. He was left for dead. Animal Control picked him up and he found his way into a MD shelter. He lay pancaked to the floor and in pain. Every time you touched him his skin would break open and bleed. We just had to help him….
Fast forward 10 weeks later. With lots of care we expect Winston will be mange free this week and will schedule his neuter. He is 9 month old Husky mix (Husky/Chow/Cocker Spaniel/Pit/Mixed breed mix to be exact!). Winston’s hair has all grown in and it’s now getting some length to it and he’s come to life! Winston is your typical puppy but true to the Husky breed he is beyond smart. He is house broken and crate trained, although he does have an accident from time to time. But if you’re paying attention he’ll communicate his potty needs. Winston loves other dogs and is sometimes hesitant with new people, but trusts quickly. Because of his puppy playfulness and nibbles we do not recommend young children, probably ages 10 and up. Winston loves toys and needs a home with lots of them! Winston needs to go to a house with other young, playful dogs that has a fenced in yard. He loves to play, play, play. He is a puller on the leash and we’re still working on it. He’s just recently vaccinated so he didn’t have a lot of practice until lately. He needs a family that will treat him like the valuable member that he is. His home must allow him snuggle time. His favorite spot is to be asleep on his back between his foster parents with his head on a pillow. As much as he loves to play, he loves to snuggle. Winston rides well in the car, but would much prefer to sit in your lap rather than ride in a crate. He does not care for water. He’s loyal to a fault and will bark at strangers or anyone he deems to be a threat to his family. He does have a little dog bark! Winston weighs 38 lbs and isn’t expected to grow much more. The mange definitely stunted his growth, but he’s a perfect size and has a LARGE personality!
Winston is in a wonderful foster home, getting everything he needs so we’re going to be picky about who we adopt him to. If you can give him everything he deserves (as stated above and more!), he will give you a lifetime of love.
