Zeus is an 8 month old pup who has had a hard life so far and is looking for life to get better. He was bought “off Craig’s List” at only four months old. His family noticed he had a limp but he didn’t get treatment for it. Three months later , at only seven months old, he was brought to be euthanized for the limp. Fortunately, a volunteer was at the same shelter and overheard what was going on and gave the family a much better option, rescue. When Zeus was picked up from his home, he was separated from the only friend he had known, a Lab. It was very traumatic for the both of them. He has been with us for a month now and we have learned that his limp was caused by a condition known as “Pano”. It’s very common in German Shepherds. It is easily treated with anti-inflammatory medication and pain medications. They eventually grow out of it. The most similar condition in humans “Growing Pains”. This poor little guy suffered for a long time needlessly.
Now he’s looking for his forever home. He is still very shy and unsure of the world. While we can’t reunite him with his best friend, the Lab, we are looking for a home that has a canine companion for him, one that is outgoing and balanced, one that he can take his direction from. With the guidance of another companion dog and the patience of a loving family, a quiet stable home, we know he will be just fine. Please, no children. For a scared dog who has never been around them, children can be very scary.

The minimum adoption donation ranges from $300 to $400. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is 100% tax deductible.
Prior to placement, all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are usually microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis. Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
Our adoption process begins with completing an application on-line. A phone screening will soon follow, and lastly a home visit will be conducted by our volunteers.
